Baptist pastor, Luther Hux, was dismayed over what he saw as liberalism creeping into the Southern Baptist seminary he attended in Wake Forest, North Carolina. The flap over the RSV rendering of Isaiah 7:14 served as further justification for him leaving the Southern Baptist Convention and becoming an independent Baptist, earlier in 1946 (Thuessen, p. 94).
